About This Position

Responsible for pumping fuel, handling cash transactions with customers, light maintenance and various duties in and around the plant including the warehouse, main tank farm, marinas, office, etc.

REPORTS TO:                      Marina Manager

STATUS:                                 This is a non-exempt position for which overtime benefits are received. 

SUMMARY:                             Responsible for pumping fuel, handling cash transactions with customers, light maintenance and various duties in and around the plant including the warehouse, main tank farm, marinas, office, etc. Perform data entry and/or general office duties as defined by the Plant Manager.

STAFF:                                   None

      PLEASE NOTE:  ALASKA LABOR LAWS REQUIRE THAT A PERSON BE 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO WORK ON THE MARINA.                                                                                                                                    

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Pump fuel and handle cash transactions for all marina customers.

2.      Conduct daily inventory of float stock and restock as necessary.

3.      Monitor drip pans, drip barrels and used oil collection system. Remove as necessary and label containers. Collect and place used sorbents in designated drums.

4.      Gauge all tanks for fuel depth, water depth and temperature and record in the gauge book on a monthly basis.

5.      Inspect area within the tank farm containment dike for water level and quality on a weekly basis. Drain water as required in presence of the plant manager and record the procedure in the plant safety inspection log book.

6.      Record closing meter reading and collect meter sheets. Place meter sheets, invoices and cash drawer in office safe at close of day.

7.      Be available to assist with other operations as necessary.

Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Needs to possess ability to remain calm under pressure and represent Petro Marine Services. and the Plant with courteous, professional customer service.  This position is often the first point of contact and main interface with our customers!

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires good attendance and that you be on time.  All positions require that the candidate be able to work directly with petroleum products.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulatory and compliance documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, or service providers. Ability to write and effectively communicate utilizing e-mail.  Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers and vendors to facilitate problem resolutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and 75 pounds occasionally, and push/pull a maximum of 350 lbs (with assistance of pallet jack).  Operate hand truck with heavy inventory loaded, most typically package lube products such as a pallet of 4-8, 5 gallon containers or one 55 gallon drum of lube oil product. Operate a forklift. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and participate in moderately active physical duties. Must be able to operate company vehicles. Must be able to use computer, telephone and other general office equipment. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods through out the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to move product. Proper lifting techniques required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The performance of this position requires exposure to industrial areas and marine location which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as appropriate foot wear, safety glasses with side shields, flotation device, and mandatory hearing protection.  Industrial areas include hazardous chemicals, fumes, and petroleum by-products. For the most part, exposure is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
